I In fact I’m fairly certain of it. Does that make me a bad person? Scratches are expensive and I live in a college dorm parking garage where ever car is dinged up.
Nobody even parks on that floor
EDIT: thanks everyone, I guess my parking job is acceptable. My friends all said that parking like that was bad but they’re in the “cars are only transportation appliances to move you from A to B” school of thought.

End spot. You can part it to one side.

Asshat parking far away from everyone else is different than asshat parking right up front or in a handicap spot.
Its way more acceptable if no one is inconvenienced by it.

No, this completely acceptable. It doesn’t inconvenience anyone and you aren’t taking up an extra spot.
Also, where do you go to school that has so much parking you can park on a floor no one parks on?

i do the same stuff, if you were in the front row into another spot yes, that, no

If that’s your pic/your car, you’re good. You could even diagonal it a little just to make sure nobody tries to squeeze into that corner.

As long as you aren’t in two spots. Parking a bit on a striped buffer zone is fine, even in it’s near the front.

You park just fine. I’d do the same thing.

If I have an end spot with empty space on one side I always park over. I actively look for these spaces. So far my car only has one door ding and I’d like to keep it that way. The asshats are the ones that block more than one space.

As everyone else has said, no asshattery here. It’s perfectly acceptable IMHO to park over the line into the empty space. The only caveout is that sometimes people still park right next to you, completely over the line into your space because the space is there.

Totally acceptable since that doesn’t look like a parking spot at the end. I don't think anyone parks on the end anyways.

You’re parking is fine, but don’t you get kinda cold from time to time while living in the garage?

I got so many scratches, dings, and dents in my cars throughout college. No judgement from me

I go to school at UCSB. This parking garage fills up during events like big games and orientation but on most days the top floor is empty.

This is not asshat parking.

Nah, that’s legit. if the one on the left was a parking spot it would be uncool. But it’s not a spot so you’re completely fine, even if that whole floor was packed.

Oh, that makes sense. I guess I don’t have much experience with schools where sports are big deal.
![]() 05/11/2015 at 13:30 |

Sports aren’t that big here but everyone needs a space to park in on move in day.

Nope...not an asshat. You are just taking advantage of a non-parking spot to maximize your car’s safety. Also it is away from everyone else. No inconvenience to anyone = no asshat parking

If only my school had thought that way.

Not an asshat. Corner spot, overlap into non-space, more room for next guy.
I park like this daily where a column in the garage creates a big gap between two spaces. My front fender nearly touches the column. The spot in the pic below is at the end of the garage and the guy with the blue WRX likes to park between the columns. I don’t normally park there, but I don’t have a pic of my regular spot.
The down side is that sometimes people take advantage and overlap into my space - and THAT is asshat parking.

End spot, not near anyone else...no foul.

I think you have parked well. There doesn’t seem to be anyone around and that corner piece is not a spot.
